For decades the Bingham Canyon Mine, now operated by Kennecott Utah Copper and Rio Tinto, has been one of the most spectacular sightseeing experiences for visitors to Salt Lake City. The Utah Copper Mine is the largest man-made hole in history and earns its nickname as “The Richest Hole on Earth” from producing more copper than any other mine, as well as gold and silver.
